Although it once took the dance world by storm, for decades, tap dancing has been on the conventional end of a dance spectrum that now includes anything from waltzes to break dancing to Harlem Shakes. But a tap dance revival team has plans to bring the dance back to the forefront.

When you think of classical music, the names Mozart, Beethoven or Bach usually come to mind. But the Historic Ritz Theatre in Talladega is bringing a new kind of classical music to the area. On Thursday and Friday, a young piano duo will show the Ritz’s audience how much fun classical music can be.

During the Easter season, visitors to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church find the marble “Pieta” on display in the sanctuary particularly striking and meaningful. Pieta, a representation of the Virgin Mary cradling the crucified body of Christ, is a copy of Michelangelo’s sculpture (although three-fourths the size), which now stands in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

Dancing seems to be the theme of the historic Talladega Ritz Theatre’s spring season. There’s dancing on the keys by the fingers of virtuoso piano duo Anderson & Roe, and there’s dancing on stage by the 11 wildly creative artists of Rhythmic Circus, whose show is titled “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now.”
