Delta Kappa Gamma Society holds meeting
Sigma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held a regularly scheduled meeting on November 13, 2012, at the Anniston Museum of Natural History in Anniston, Alabama with President Gloria Horton, presiding.

Judy Douthit brought the inspirational thought, “Thanksgiving Wish”, and led the members in reciting the Beta State Collect. Sandra Sudduth shared history on Veteran’s Day, and led the group in singing “Proud to Be an American”. Janette Fulmer presented a history on Gussie Baker, a pioneer from Choccolocco, Alabama during the time devoted to society orientation.

The program topic was “Using Children Literature to Teach Content in the Secondary School” and was presented by Sharon Padgett, an instructor at Jacksonville State University. She has also had many years of experience in other school systems. She shared trade books that are used to help teach math in the secondary schools, and a study of its effect on retention of a mathematical concept.

Following the business meeting, time was provided to make announcements, and to draw for the door prize. After singing The Delta Kappa Gamma Song, the meeting was adjourned.
