The Jacksonville Exchange Club rang in the holiday season last week with an evening of charity and cheer.

About 75 members turned out for the club’s annual Christmas Party, where they raised more than $1,700 for the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center and collected dozens of toys for the center’s Toyland Christmas program, according to club secretary Rachel Rogers.

“Everything came from within the club,” Rogers said.

The club auctioned off gift baskets filled with items donated by members, along with a few specialty cakes baked by members. Rogers said the $1,700 in proceeds from the auction, which the club presented to the JCOC last week, made for one of the largest Christmas donations they’ve made in recent years. “We were able to raise a good chunk of change,” she said.

At the annual affair, the Exchange members enjoyed a meal catered by Effina’s and sang Christmas carols. “It was a really good time,” Rogers said, “and everybody was really generous.”
