Eagles fly to win over Etowah

Jacksonville jumped out to a 22-12 first quarter lead, led 36-24 at the half and ended with a 61-53 win over Etowah.

The Golden Eagles were led by Des Curry with 15 points. Curry was 6-for-7 from the foul line and ended the game with nine rebounds.

Also scoring for Jacksonville in the win were Dominique Thomas and Lavontae LaCount with nine points, Jackson Bell, Sid Thurmond and Andrew Clingan with six points, Martavius Brisker, 5 points, Dakota Doss three and Jared Tippets two points.

Lady Eagles win big over Etowah

Virginia Poe attempted nine 3-pointers, sinking five of them as she led her Lady Eagles with 21 points in a 62-42 win over Etowah.

Jacksonville took a commanding 34-12 lead into the locker room at the half.

Kenyatta Ervin had a double-double for the Lady Eagles with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Sharon Osterbind also scored in double figures with 11 points.

Also contributing in the win were Darrien Martin, Dasia Kirksey, Destiny Easley and Abby Jaskowski all with four points, and Angel Kidd with one point.

PV girls win first area game

The Lady Raiders won their first area game with a 27-12 victory over Wellborn.

Kara Perry led the Lady Raiders with 11 points. Tiffany Williams had six points and McKinley Parris four for Pleasant Valley.

Earlier in the week the Lady Raiders defeated Sacred Heart 44-31.Williams led all scorers with 11 points. Bailey Turner was also in double figures for Pleasant Valley with 10.

Also scoring for Pleasant Valley were Atleigh Brannon with nine points, Jordan Moorer and Kendall Johnson with six points each and McKinley Parris with two points.

The Lady Raiders had a tough loss to Weaver losing 46-42 in a hard fought battle. Williams led the Lady Raiders with 17 points and Turner had 13 points in the loss.
