Mrs. Rogers died Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Jacksonville Medical Center.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean L. Miller and her husband, David, of Jacksonville, Marjorie R. Davies and her husband, Kevin, of Piedmont and Rachel A. Hennings and her husband, Rick, of Collierville, Tenn.; one son, LTC Gordon K. Rogers, USA Ret. and his wife, Cay, of Yuma, Ariz.; ten grandchildren, Caitlyn Rogers, Kimberly Rogers, Jonathan Miller, Anna Miller Hale, Thomas Moore, Christopher Moore, Matthew Moore, Joshua Bearden, Brittany Poland and Brooke Bearden; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Elna B. Rains, of Attalla, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Moore, Chris Moore, Matthew Moore, Josh Bearden, Jonathan Miller and Tim Hale.
Mrs. Rogers was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. She taught in the Calhoun County School System for many years with her last teaching assignment, prior to retirement, at Alexandria Elementary School. She received her education degrees at Jacksonville State University. Mrs. Rogers was an accomplished pianist and violinist and enjoyed wood carving, art and painting family portraits.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LTC Ralph William (Bill) Rogers Jr., USA Ret.; her parents, Dewey and Nora Boozer and a sister, Helen Pace.
