UDC has three new members
Holly Machen Park of Jacksonville is one of three new members of the Major General Patrick R. Cleburne Chapter 2632, United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Mrs. Park joined on the service record of her Great-Great-Great Grandfather Machen who served in Company A 30th Regiment Alabama Infantry during the War Between the States. Mrs. Park is currently attending Graduate School at Auburn University. The other new members of this UDC Chapter are Donna Dunn Riddle of Heflin and Sandra Cheatwood Trego of Oxford. All three women received UDC membership certificates presented by Chapter President Dr. Lynda Lowery at the Gen. Cleburne luncheon meeting on January 15 at Classic on Noble in Anniston.

Also on January 15, Ross Thrash of Heflin was awarded a UDC World War II Cross of Military Service. He served as a Sergeant during World War II, 512th Medical Collecting Company United States Army. His Great-Great Grandfather Reuben Adams served in Company E 29th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Confederate States of America.

Susie Stephenson, who plays Southern music on the hammered dulcimer, entertained UDC Chapter members and visitors at the event. Songs included many all-time favorites such as “Dixie’s Land”, concluding with a touching rendition of “Amazing Grace”. She is a member of the band “Unreconstructed”.
