Jax Health and Rehab holds 4th annual Mardi Gras parade
The residents at Jacksonville Health and Rehab enjoyed the regular New Orleans staples of king cake and jambalaya on the menu at last week’s Mardi Gras celebration. This is the fourth year that the staff of JH&R has celebrated Mardi Gras with their residents. Seniors from Jacksonville’s Senior Center came by, as well, packing the house. If you were wondering where the wildest, craziest Mardi Gras party in the city was, look no further. JH&R was the place to be.

JH&R’s activity coordinator, Chana Bennett, was once again in charge of the event. Not only did she lead the parade up and down the hallways of the rehab center, she also quizzed the residents on the history and traditions of Mardi Gras.

Bennett, who is originally from Louisiana, knows how to celebrate Mardi Gras. Afterward, Bennett shared with the residents that it was time to eat. Plates of New Orleans cuisine was passed around to the residents and visitors.
