Jacksonville's annual tree giveaway a huge success
Jacksonville held its annual Tree Giveaway Friday on the public square. The event, coordinated by the city’s Tree Commission, has always been a hit with residents, and this year was no different.

A variety of ornamental, shade and wildlife trees were provided through the Alabama Power Company and the Alabama Forestry Commission. Alabama Power provided 2,253 trees this year.

As residents came to pick up their free tree, volunteers were available to answer tree planting and tree care questions. Members of the Jacksonville Garden Club and the Calhoun County Master Gardeners Association were all in attendance to lend a helping hand. Thanks to their help, those in attendance were able to get the right type of tree for their yard.
