Fun with Dr. Seuss at Jacksonville Christian Academy
The week of February 25th through March 1st was ‘Read Around Our World’ at Jacksonville Christian Academy.  Several guest readers who came to read to the elementary school students.  On Monday, Dr. and Mrs. William Meehan read O the Places You Will Go and A Pocket for Corduroy. The students wore destination t-shirts to places they had visited.  On Tuesday, J.S.U. head football coach, Bill Clark, football player Preston Hatchett and head ballerina Susan Grace Catrett read If I Ran the Circus. The students dressed up as their favorite character from their favorite book.  On Wednesday, Mayor Johnny Smith read the Foot Book to K/4 - 1st grade . Steven Lee and Katy Miller rapped Fox on Socks to 2nd -6th grades.  The students wore crazy socks and shoes.  The Thursday, readers were Miss JSU, Sara Beth Drake and JSU Southerners drum major, Daniel Marshall read The Lorax.  The students brought in a recycled item.  The Friday reader was Daniel Milner who brought a puppet to read The Cat in the Hat.  The students also were able to watch a video of Tim Tebow reading Green Eggs and Ham.  The students also attended the performance of ‘Seussical the Musical’ at Wallace Hall at Gadsden State Community College.  It was very exciting to see several former J.C.A. students in the performance.  JCA students participated in the coloring contest where the winners were invited to go on stage for the reading of Green Eggs and Ham, and they received a signed poster from the cast. The winners were K-5- Ashley Grant, 1st- Karli Barnwell, 2nd- Kirsten Walker, 3rd- Angelina Diaz, 4th- Joli Grace Parker, 5th- Maci Barnwell, and 6th- Marina Lauessie.
