Jacksonville soccer off to a good start

Jacksonville’s soccer teams are off to a good start with the boys posting a 2-1 record and the girls team a perfect 4-0 giving them a No.8 ranking in the state.

Both teams will be in action at home in area play against Childersburg. The girls will play at 5:30 and the boys will follow at 7:30.

The boy’s team started out the season with a 4-2 loss to Susan Moore. Austin Martin and Mason Tompkins both scored goals for the Eagles.

Jacksonville rebounded with two big wins, beating Cherokee County 9-1 and then again 8-0.

In the first game against the Warriors Brian Pryor scored two goals and Tompkins, Kale Rowan, Jad Gao, Keaton Green, Alex King, Andrew Staples and Camden Aguilar all got in on the action scoring one goal each.

In the second game Bryan Manuel and Martin both had two goals with Tompkins, Staples, Gao and Green each scoring a goal.

The girls have started out the season undefeated at 4-0. In recent action the Lady Eagles defeated Sacred Heart 9-1 and Oneonta 8-2. Stats were unavailable.
