J’ville Garden Club meets
The Jacksonville Garden Club met Feb. 20 at the Community Center. President Sheila Webb welcomed visitors and then introduced Dr. Paul Beezley. Beezley told of the planned “Gallant Pelham” commemoration March 16-17 and asked the club to provide greenery and flowers for the funeral procession to the gravesite of Major Pelham on Sunday afternoon.

Mike Limrick informed the club that the First Methodist Church has land behind the church.  One third of the land is slated for crop supplements for JCOC’s clients, one third as a teaching garden, and one third as an Outdoor Classroom for KSES. Any help the club could provide would be welcome.

The Senior Center provided refreshments in appreciation of club members doing  landscaping at the center.

Roxanna Sims and Dave Clark of Forever Sunrise Organics (farm) in Piedmont presented a Power Point Presentation about growing organic vegetables and handed out several bags of veggies as door prizes.

Webb conducted the business meeting. Old and new club projects were discussed.

Other members present were Mary Andrews, Doris Baucom, Linda Buckner, Ria Jane Chiepalich, Sara and Larry Dixon, Klaus Duncan and Sandra Kelly, Nancy and Lawrence Gillespie, Don Judd, Cindii Mitchell, Carolyn Patton, Peggy Roswal, Linda Schiff, Constance Sims, Dan Spector, and Barbara Tucker.
