Anniston police on Thursday charged two Jacksonville women with assaulting a 19-year-old woman at a bar last month.

Maria Janae McCurdy, 23, and Arianna Bonnique Jenkins, 23, allegedly assaulted an Anniston woman on March 17 at a bar on the 1500 block of Hillyer Robinson Parkway.

McCurdy was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and Jenkins was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, according to police reports.

The victim told police she got into an argument with the women, whom she only knew as acquaintances, and was thrown to the ground, Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said. The victim was allegedly hit and kicked repeatedly by McCurdy and Jenkins, Sparks said.

McCurdy also hit the victim over the head with an empty beer bottle, according to the sergeant.

The victim refused medical treatment, Sparks said.

McCurdy was released Thursday from the Anniston City Jail on a $2,500 bond. A court date is set for April 18.

Jenkins was also released from the Anniston City Jail Thursday on a $500 bond. Jenkins is scheduled to appear in court on April 24.
