Lady Eagles win two

In the Gadsden Umpire Tournament held Saturday at Woodland Park, Jacksonville’s Lady Eagles went 2-1 beating West End 2-0, Ider, 6-3 and then lost in extra innings to North Jackson 3-2.

Against West End Julie Newell stated off the scoring in the first inning with a solo homerun. Asha Thurmond was 1-for-2 and Kaitlin Jennings was 1-for-2 with a RBI.

Jennings was the winning pitcher recording five strikeouts.

Jacksonville came from behind against Ider for the win. Ider had jumped out to a 3-0 lead but Jacksonville fought back scoring three in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to pick up their second win of the day.

Becky Heintzleman was 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Lady Eagles. Ashton Gaddy also was 2-for-3, Newell went 2-for-4, Chametris Young 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Mikayla Ludwig was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Ludwig picked up the win in the circle and had five strikeouts.

Jacksonville played a thriller against North Jackson. Behind 2-0 coming into the bottom of the sixth, Jacksonville tacked on one run in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie up the score at 2-2. North Jackson scored in the top half of their inning to win the game 3-2.

Newell continued a good hitting day going 2-for-3, Ludwig was 1-for-3 with a RBI and Thurmond was also 1-for-3 with a double and RBI.
