Dixon enlightens Garden Club on peppers and tomatoes
The Jacksonville Garden Club met March 20 in the Fireplace Room at the Community Center.

Larry Dixon, using a slide show he created, treated members to an educational program laced with a gentle sense humor about all aspects of installing and maintaining a vegetable garden for best yield of produce. His emphasis was on growing peppers and tomatoes in our area. There are certain varieties of peppers and tomatoes that are grown for a special purpose. Dixon’s favorite tomato is the Cherokee Purple.

Sheila Webb conducted the business meeting. A generous donation was approved by the members for the Pocket Park.

Other members present were Mary Andrews, Doris Baucom, Linda Buckner, Sara Dixon, Susan DiBiase, Don Judd, Carolyn Patton, Linda Schiff, Dan Spector, Barbara Tucker.
