MAJ Turner died at his home Thursday, April 4, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Emogene O. Turner, of Jacksonville; two sons, John Michael Turner and his wife, Jean, of Birmingham and Arthur W. Turner and his wife, Teresa, of Irving, Texas; two sisters, Jewel Dean Dunnigan, of Placerville, Calif. and Louise Johnson, of Redmond, Calif.; a brother, James Turner, of Calamesa, Calif. and three grandchildren.
MAJ Turner was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. He served his country in the U.S. Army for 22 years, including service during World War II and Korea. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Master Parachutist Badge and the Army Commendation Medal. He was head of the Communications Department at JSU for 20 years until his retirement.
