The Willow Tree holds TOMS’ One Day Without Shoes today
The Willow Tree in Jacksonville will join TOMS’ Shoes in the 6th Annual One Day Without Shoes, to raise awareness about children’s heath, education and self-esteem issues. Participants are asked to continue with their normal routine, except without shoes in hopes of learning what millions of children around the world experience every day. Without shoes, these children are exposed to infection, injury and diseases and they experience poor school attendance and a lack of self-confidence.

As an incentive to participate, The Willow Tree will offer a special one-day discount of 20 percent off all TOMS. Customers who enter the store wearing TOMS will also be entered into a drawing for a free pair of TOMS.

Other Day Without Shoes events will be held on many college campuses and across the world. TOMS’ founder Blake Mycoskie said, “It’s humbling to think that One Day Without Shoes started on a college campus six years ago and now we’re seeing participation from thousands across the globe. Kick off your shoes and call attention to the many children who have no choice but to go without shoes every day.”

TOMS began when Mycoskie, an American traveler, visited Argentina and discovered that the children were without shoes. He launched the TOMS company in 2006 and stated that he would donate a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair sold.
