Local Martial Arts instructors win national championships
Taekwondo instructors, Ted Turgeon and Clayton Sprayberry, each won national championships in their respective divisions at the Taekwondo United National Tournament in Saddle Brook, NJ on March 22, 2013. Clayton Sprayberry, 3rd Degree Black Belt, finished a close second in the Forms Competition, then went on to fight his way through the tournament bracket and take home the first place gold medal in the Sparring Competition. Ted “Wolverine” Turgeon, 4th Degree Sr. Black Belt, won his Forms Competition. Then, in the championship round of the Sparring Competition, he won in double overtime to clinch the gold medal. The titles make a total of fourteen for the two instructors combined. In addition, they have coached their students to twenty national championships in the five years since the school opened. The two are nationally certified instructors, and also teach Krav Maga and beginner Jiu Jitsu at Ted Turgeon’s Martial Arts, with locations in Jacksonville and Oxford (256-310-0718).
