Anniston police this morning were investigating a report of domestic violence in which a 44-year-old man allegedly beat his wife and 20-year-old stepson.

According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, the man came home and demanded money from his 39-year-old wife. His wife told him she would give him the money after she finished running errands, George said.

According to the captain, the man became enraged and threatened to assault her son, who was in the front yard. George said that when she did not give her husband the money he charged his stepson and grabbed him.

George said the wife jumped on her husband’s back. He pulled her over his head and slammed her to the ground, George said, and the husband then tackled his stepson to the ground and held him in a chokehold.

According to George, the wife jumped on her husband’s back again and hit him until he released his hold on her son.

George said that the husband left the residence, which is on the 700 block of 38th Street, while his stepson called the police. The husband was not home when the police were dispatched. No other witnesses were involved, George said.

The stepson had minor bruises on his face and throat, and the wife had bruises on her left arm, George said.

The husband could face charges of felony domestic violence, according to a police report.
