It would be so nice to eat at one of Anniston’s nice restaurants on a Sunday evening and enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. This is why I hope Sen. Del Marsh’s bill that would allow the City Council to decide on Sunday alcohol sales will pass because it will be a plus for Anniston.

I can’t understand why some people think it is a sin to have a glass of wine on any day of the week. Also, I have never witnessed anyone with too much to drink at any restaurant that my husband and I have gone to for a nice, quiet dinner. Now, it may be different on New Year’s Eve, but then we don’t go out that night unless we eat out early before the “partiers” get started.

Why are so many people in our area so narrow-minded that they put on blinders and look no further than their nose and do not look for the benefits of what is proposed for our area? This includes Rep. Randy Wood.

Publix is a good example. People in Anniston were against it because it would increase crime and more traffic. Have you noticed a crime increase in Oxford since Publix opened? Have you noticed the increase in traffic there? Duh!

Look at the tax money Oxford is getting from that one business. I’ll bet every one of the people who were against it in Anniston has shopped in Oxford at the Publix I so wanted in our great city.
