An Oxford Middle School teacher was reportedly assaulted by a student Friday morning.

Oxford police Lt. L.G. Owens said the 45-year-old teacher was assaulted when he tried to stop a fight between two male students, age 15 and 13. No weapons were involved in the assault. Owens said the 15-year-old boy was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, Friday.

The incident occurred at the middle school Friday morning between 9 o’clock and 9:45, the report states.

Owens deferred all other questions to the school’s student services coordinator, Roy Bennett, because “it’s a school related matter.”

Bennett said Monday afternoon he was not aware of an assault and he would “have to look into it.”
