Police are searching today for a man who severely injured two Anniston residents during an assault on Wilmer Avenue Wednesday.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said a male relative of a 59-year-old woman repeatedly hit her with a wooden object inside an apartment on the 1700 block of Wilmer Avenue between 11:45 a.m. and noon.

During the attack, Sparks said, a 60-year-old man tried to intervene and he was struck multiple times in the head with the same object.

Sparks said the victims suffered serious injuries ranging from large cuts to broken bones.

Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. Sparks would not release which hospital because as of this morning the suspect had not been apprehended by police.

Sparks described the suspect as “very dangerous.”

The suspect could be charged with first-degree assault and first-degree domestic violence, both felonies, according to a police report.
