Anniston police today were investigating a theft reported Monday night in which a woman was struck in the face and her car was stolen, according to a police report.

According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, the victim got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend at her home on the 200 block of Old County Road 109. George said he did not know what the fight was about.

The victim was struck in the left side of her face with a closed fist, the captain said. The suspect allegedly hit the victim until she went unconscious, George said.

According to George, when the victim woke up, she saw her ex-boyfriend leaving her home in her vehicle, a black 2002 Honda civic. George said the victim suffered from a swollen left eye, knots on the side of her head and a bruise on her hand. She did not seek medical attention, George said.

She will press charges against the suspect, the captain said.

The suspect could face felony charges of first-degree theft and misdemeanor domestic violence charges.
