Sixty years ago when I first began hanging around barbershops and pool halls, the so-called derogative was prefaced by a smile and an extended hand of fellowship, the same one we might see in any black church on any given Sunday.

Paula Deen needs to go away and take that slop she peddles with her. What she is about is the definition of America per George Corley Wallace and friends. Two months ago, Rep. Joseph Mitchell was trying to address the archaic nature of cultural life in America, specifically in Alabama, and he fell on his face. Again, Paula Deen needs to go away and take her slop with her. Why would we even be talking about Paula Deen, anyway? Is that all we know about?

Richard Pryor earned money off the cultural slop of black barbershops and beauty shops. I keep inviting Americans to read two books and one document, “Black Like Me” by John Howard Griffin, “Shattering the Myth of Race: Genetic Realities and Biblical Truths” by Dr. Dave Unander and “The Southern Manifesto.” These pearls can keep one from being without an “informing educational experience” as apparently is the case with Paula Deen. This saga tells the world that you can have success in America without having a clue as to what human responsibilities are about.

So, Paula Deen, please go away and take your slop with you. That is the message. Understanding the Saint Francis of Assisi Prayer or the journey of Mother Teresa would be a start. It is not about the “N” word, it is about Paula.

The “wretched” word was always public and the young never knew what to do about it, so they used it.
