A woman told police that her husband strangled her Sunday morning at their Anniston home.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said officers were dispatched to a house on the 2800 block of Gurnee Avenue around 8 a.m. for an assault-in-progress call. The 23-year-old woman told police her husband hit her multiple times in the back with a skateboard, dragged her outside the house and choked her, George said.

The captain said the woman’s husband fled before police arrived.

The victim suffered several minor cuts and scratches on her throat and neck, George said, as well as cuts on her hands.

The woman did not receive medical treatment while police were present, George said.

George said this morning that police have not been able to get in touch with the victim since she filed the report, and it’s unlikely she will press charges.
