A 16-year-old girl told police Tuesday she was robbed at gunpoint of cash, a phone and her car in Anniston.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said the victim went to pick up a friend on the 300 block of Elm Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The friend encouraged the victim to buy drugs, George said, but she refused. She was approached by several men who demanded she buy drugs, according to George.

The victim told police the suspect took the keys to the her 2002 red Ford Focus, then pointed a gun at her and demanded money. A second suspect jumped in the back of the car and grabbed the victim, George said.

The suspect with the gun slapped the teen’s face with his hand, and she handed over $30, the captain said.

The men drove away in her car, which police recovered on Draper Avenue shortly after. No one was in the car when police discovered it, George said.

The victim told police she left her cell phone in the car, but it was not inside when police found the vehicle.

George said the victim was not injured during the robbery and it was still under investigation toady.

Any suspects could be charged with felony first-degree robbery.
