An employee of a local business was robbed Saturday morning while on her way to deposit money.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said the 36-year-old woman works for a retail store on the 1700 block of Quintard Avenue. Sparks said the woman placed two deposit bags into her car containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was standing beside the car, Sparks said, when a man she did not know approached her.

The suspect pushed the victim to the ground, took the deposit bags and fled on foot, Sparks said.

The woman was not injured during the incident, according to the sergeant.

Sparks said today investigators were reviewing video surveillance from nearby businesses and interviewing witnesses.

Any suspect could be charged with third-degree robbery, a felony, according to a police report.
