HEFLIN — A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 78 in Heflin this morning sent two people to hospitals, one by helicopter.

Chief Jonathan Adams of the Heflin Fire Department said firefighters received a call about the wreck just before 9:30 this morning. Adams arrived to find a pickup truck and a car had been in an accident near the intersection of U.S. 78 and Ervin Circle, he said.

Efforts to reach Heflin police for details on the accident were unsuccessful Thursday.

The driver of the car and her passenger, a child, both were injured in the accident. An ambulance drove the child to Regional Medical Center in Anniston while the woman was flown to a hospital for head injuries, Adams said. He was unsure where the woman would be hospitalized.
