The contest, which was originally scheduled to be played Sept. 20, which is a Saturday, will be played Sept. 18, which is a Thursday. It will be televised nationally by ESPN. Both teams will be coming off open dates the previous week.
The Tigers begin next fall hosting Arkansas (Aug. 30) and San Jose State (Sept. 6). The Wildcats, who are coming off an 8-5 season, take on Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 30 before heading on the road to tussle with Iowa State on Sept. 6.
Auburn and Kansas State last played in the 2007 opener, a game the Tigers won 23-13 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The Tigers have made the trek to Manhattan, Kan., only one other time. That came in 1978, when Auburn walked away with a 45-32 victory in the first game of the year.
